Director Certificate Training Series
Application are now closed for Cohort 6 (November
2009 - May 2010) of the Oregon Director Certificate
Training Series. Watch for the next Cohort in September
2010.
The training will be held over six weekends
from Friday at 1:00 pm to Saturday at 4:30 pm with meals
included and lodging for those who travel over 50 miles.
Training is scheduled one weekend per month for six
sessions (November, December, February, March, April
& May). Training includes 60 hours of Set Two Training
in Program Management plus Orientation and Q & A
sessions. Thanks to the American Recovery and Reinvestment
Act funds provided through the Oregon Child Care Division
and John & Betty Gray Scholarship Funds provide
through the Oregon Center for Career Development, scholarships
are available to pay for most of the tuition for accepted
applicants. Training will be held at either the Clackamas
Community College Workforce Training Center in Wilsonville
or at the OregonAEYC office in Gladstone. It is available
to directors and lead staff from licensed child care
centers from throughout the state.
Applications for the 20 available spaces in the 2010-2011
Director Certificate Training Series will open in September.
You MUST currently be a Director, Site Director, Assistant
Director or other Lead Staff employed in a licensed
child care center *. This program applies to
those who serve children in any age group from infants
through school-age.
Dates: Classes are held on Fridays
from 1:30 – 8:30 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am
– 4:00 pm. You must commit to attending all sessions.
The following dates are scheduled and include an extra
weekend in case of cancellation due to weather.

Location: Sessions will be held at
Clackamas Workforce Training Center in Wilsonville.
Costs: The total cost per participant
is $1525 with $675 provided by John & Betty Gray
Fund at the Oregon Center for Career Development. The
balance (up to a maximum of $850 per participant) may
be covered with American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
(ARRA) funds provided through the Oregon Child Care
Division. Although not required, we ask that employers
and participants consider making a financial contribution.
This cost includes all materials including textbook,
snacks, Friday dinner and Saturday lunch, trainers,
coordination, evaluation of the Cohort, and for those
who travel over 50 miles one way to the training a mileage
stipend and lodging. The ARRA funds will make it possible
for participants from every county to qualify for a
scholarship.
* If you are a Certified Family Child Care, we are working
to develop a program just for you and hope to be able
to offer it by Summer or Fall of 2010. Please do not
apply for this cohort.
