Director Certificate Training Series
The Oregon
Director Certificate Training Series now accepting applications
for 2011-2012 - Cohort 8
The training will be held over six weekends
from Friday at 1:00 pm to Saturday at 4:30 pm with meals
included and lodging for those who travel over 50 miles.

Training is scheduled one weekend
per month for six sessions (October, November, January,
February, March (if make-up needed), April & May).
Training includes 60 hours of Set Two Training in Program
Management plus Orientation and Q & A sessions.
Thanks to the Child Care Division of the Oregon Employment
Department and the Betty Gray Early Childhood Scholarship
Fund provided through the Oregon Center for Career Development,
scholarships are available to pay for most of the tuition
for accepted applicants. Training will be held at the
Clackamas Community College Workforce Training Center
in Wilsonville. It is available to directors and lead
staff from licensed child care centers from throughout
the state.
Applications for the 20 available spaces in the 2011-2012
Director Certificate Training Series are now open. You
MUST currently be a Director, Site Director, Assistant
Director or other Lead Staff employed in a licensed
child care center. You must also have
an Oregon Registry Step or have applied for a Step by
the application deadline. This program applies
to those who serve children in any age group from infants
through school-age.
Dates: Classes are held on Fridays
from 1:30 – 8:30 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am
– 4:00 pm. You must commit to attending all sessions.
The following dates are scheduled and include an extra
weekend in case of cancellation due to weather.

Make-up Date: March 9-10 only if January or February
is cancelled due to weather.
Location: Sessions will be held at
Clackamas Workforce Training Center in Wilsonville.
Costs: The total cost per participant
is $1560 with $675 provided by Betty Gray Fund at the
Oregon Center for Career Development. Each participant
or their emplyer is expected to contribute a minimum
of $120. The balance (up to a maximum of $765 per participant)
may be covered with scholarship from the Oregon Child
Care Division. This cost includes all materials including
textbook, snacks, Friday dinner and Saturday lunch,
trainers, coordination, evaluation of the Cohort, and
for those who travel over 50 miles one way to the training
a mileage stipend and lodging. The ARRA funds will make
it possible for participants from every county to qualify
for a scholarship.

Applications are screened and all applicants
will be notified by October 21st of the status of their
application whether accepted or not.
