Building a Business
Certified Family Child Care Program Management Training
Application are now open for the first Cohort - September
2010- August 2011.
The training will be held over 12 Saturdays,
one per month September 2010 through August 2011.
We are seeking a diverse group of particpants with
a range of experience and education from all regions
of the state. Training will be conducted in English
and all assigned books and handouts ar ein English.
You must be at Step 3 or higher on the Oregon Registry.
You must commit to attend all 12 training sessions.
Training is scheduled one Saturday per month for twelve
sessions. Training includes 10 hours of Set One Trainig
in Program Management and 50 hours of Set Two Training
in Program Management plus Orientation and Q & A
sessions. Thanks to the American Recovery and Reinvestment
Act funds provided through the Oregon Child Care Division
and John & Betty Gray Scholarship Funds provide
through the Oregon Center for Career Development, scholarships
are available to pay for most of the tuition for accepted
applicants. Training will be held at the OregonAEYC
office in Gladstone.
Applications for the 20-24 available spaces in the
2010-2011 Building a Business Training are now open.
You MUST currently be a Owner/Operator of Certified
Family Child Care, or you may be a staff of a Certified
Family Child Care or a Reistered Family Child Care Provider
who wants to open a Certified Family Child Care. This
program applies to those who serve children in any age
group from infants through school-age.
Dates: Classes are held on Saturdays
8:30 am – 3:00 pm except September 25th which
is 8:00 - 4:30. You must commit to attending all sessions.

Location: Sessions will be held at OregonAEYC
Conference Room in Gladstone.
Costs: The total cost per participant
is $1975. Each particpant will only
pay a $120 fee. The balance will be covered by
$675 provided by John & Betty Gray Fund at the Oregon
Center for Career Development and $1180 provided through
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds
provided through the Oregon Child Care Division. The
cost includes all materials including textbooks, snacks,
Saturday lunch, trainers, coordination, coaching, evaluation
of the Cohort, and for those who travel over 50 miles
one way to the training a small mileage stipend and
for those who travel over 100 miles mileage and lodging.
The ARRA funds will make it possible for participants
from every county to qualify for a scholarship.

All applications are screened for qualifications,
geographic diversity, and commitment to the program.
Only 20-24 particpants will be chosen. Applicants will
be notified by September 6th of the status of their
application.
